Integrative counselling does not stick to one therapeutic approach. I work in a collaborative way – often bringing in elements, theories and practices from across the therapeutic spectrum. Individual clients may want and benefit from different things in therapy.
A long and winding road brought me into private practice as a counsellor via therapeutic work with LGBT Health & Wellbeing, working within community arts programming, providing welfare services to students in higher education, decades of experience working in/ around substance use, sexual health and harm reduction.
I currently see some counselling clients through an arts organisation that specialises in mental health and wellbeing services for individuals working in creative industries. As a member of BACP, and in accordance with their code of practice and ethical code, I have regular supervision and am committed to Continuous Professional Development. This means that my practice continues to evolve.
I work open-endedly, so there is no set time frame for therapy. This is based on what the client needs and can range from a few sessions or to more longer-term work, over months or years.
